Treating Your Neck: Just as Important as Your Face

The delicate neck skin often shows the first signs of aging. It is constantly moving, turning your head to look in every direction. Add to that the yearly loss of collagen as we age, and the neck quickly develops fine lines and wrinkles. Often, we forget about caring for our neck as we focus on our luscious lips and glowing cheekbones. But it deserves just as much care and attention.
Today, Cristina shares recommendations for caring for your neck as much as you care for your face.
Skincare
From washing off your makeup to rubbing in serums, skincare should never stop at your chin! Treat your neck to an additional pump of cleanser, serums, and - most importantly - moisturizer to keep it healthy.
Neck Microtoxin
Microtoxin is just what it sounds like: using a small dose of tox across a wide area, in this case the neck. By placing multiple small doses around whole front of the neck, you treat the entire blanket of muscle. Because the injection lives very superficially, the tox also has a great improvement on skin quality and has a very quick onset.
The huge sheet of muscle that encases the neck is one of the major depressors that pulls the face downward. By injecting micro-doses of toxin, you can help support and elevate the face. The muscle still functions, but appears softer.
Cristina loves getting this treatment for how it makes her jawline look and feel cleaner. Of all the options for treating the neck, this is her number one recommendation. Between the overall results and the great effect on the skin -- it's her favorite.
Platysmal Band Tox
Platysmal bands are the vertical neck lines that may appear with extreme facial expressions- like a giant smile or grimace. As the neck skin ages, these bands can appear more pronounced through the soft skin which leads to wanting to treat those bands specifically with a full dose of tox. This means you are treating what you can visually see. This treatment works for many people. However, there are occasionally patients who treat their platysmal bands only to have other muscles become visible as they try to compensate for the relaxed bands.
Nefertiti Neck Lift
The Nefertiti Neck Lift is named for the famed Egyptian queen in honor the neck that held her crown. This treatment elongates the neck by focusing on the platysmal muscles and the jawline. While it can give you a sense of what a microtoxin neck treatment would look like, it divides attention between the neck and jaw.
