Ariessence PDGF: A Little Extra Love for Your Skin

We’re always looking for ways to make the treatments we already love work even harder for your skin. One of our newer favorites at The Confidence Bar is Ariessence pure PDGF+, which we use topically following treatments like microneedling and lasers.
Honestly, we wish we could bathe in this stuff.
Microneedling is good. Microneedling + PDGF? Now we’re talking.
First things first: what exactly is PDGF?
PDGF stands for platelet-derived growth factor. It’s one of the signaling proteins naturally involved in the body’s wound-healing and tissue-repair processes.
Ariessence contains a recombinant form called PDGF-BB. Unlike PRP or PRF, we don’t need to draw your blood to obtain it. It’s manufactured as a consistent, off-the-shelf product and applied topically to the skin. Ariessence is FDA-listed as a cosmetic product intended for topical use.
After microneedling, for example, we apply it topically while those temporary microchannels are present, supporting the skin as it begins its natural repair and remodeling process.
No blood draw. No additional injections. Yet hydrating and soothing to the skin while you recover. We like that.
But hasn’t Ariessence PDGF been a little controversial?
Yep. Let’s talk about it.
Growth factors in aesthetics have generated plenty of conversation and we think that’s a good thing. Newer aesthetic treatments should make us ask questions.
But PDGF itself isn’t some brand-new thing that suddenly appeared on the aesthetics market.
Recombinant PDGF-BB has been studied and used in medicine for decades. Different formulations containing recombinant PDGF-BB are active components of FDA-approved medical therapies used in tissue regeneration involving skin, bone, gingiva and mucosa.
That’s important to know but it’s also important to understand the difference. It doesn’t mean that every new aesthetic use of PDGF has automatically been proven, or that FDA approval of one product for one indication transfers to another.
Ariessence is a topical cosmetic product. It is not one of those FDA-approved therapeutic products.
We like science. We like evidence. We tried it ourselves and evaluated PDGF-BB and now we are offering it to our patients. We like being very clear about the difference.
So why are we using it?
Because PDGF-BB is involved in signaling during the tissue repair process, including activity involving fibroblasts, the cells involved in producing collagen and elastin. Fun fact: PDGF-BB is used in wound healing. The treatments we offer are "induced wounds", making PDGF-BB a perfect option for faster healing and quicker and more beneficial outcomes.
And those are two words we get pretty excited about around here.
The goal is to support the skin’s repair and remodeling process while potentially helping with things patients care about after treatment too, redness, recovery time, texture, tone and overall skin quality.
Our Ariessence education highlights increased collagen production and improvements in texture, tone and elasticity, along with reduced redness, inflammation and shorter downtime.
Why are we bringing it to The Confidence Bar?
We tend to approach new things in aesthetics with curiosity and sometimes in this case we like to let the dust settle a little.
We ask questions. We look at the science. We try treatments ourselves. And we decide whether something genuinely deserves a place in our practice rather than jumping on every shiny new thing that comes along.
Well…the team has tried this one. And we’ve fallen a little bit in love with it.
So how could we not share it with our patients?
We’ll continue asking questions, following the evidence and learning as more advancements, uses and research becomes available. Because whether something is new, old, trendy or terribly exciting, our philosophy doesn't change ....
There should always be a good reason for us to put something on your beautiful face.
