Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) procedures are designed to give you a youthful, vivacious glow.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) procedures revive your complexion using your own growth factors. This treatment triggers healing by stimulating the production of collagen and new blood flow.
PRP and PRFM involve withdrawing a patient's own blood and using a centrifuge to separate the blood components. The growth factors in the platelets from your blood are then injected, stimulating a cell response which repairs and regenerates new cell growth, helping to improve your complexion, skin texture, and pigmentation. These same growth factors aid in slowing and reversing the signs of aging.
These injections have been used for years in sports medicine to help athletes heal more quickly from injury. This same concept helps your face, neck, and decolletage appear more youthful.
The procedures work especially well to reduce dark circles and fine lines under the eyes. A customized mixture will be chosen especially for you. In addition, PRP with or without exosomes can be used to help promote hair growth in areas of thinning or hair loss.
Due to the natural variation in the quality of platelet-rich plasma, results will vary between individuals. Some patients may require multiple sessions to obtain the desired outcomes. Please note that four to six treatments of PRP are required for hair regrowth and this process requires yearly retreatment.

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT
Avoid chemical peels, waxing, electrolysis, laser treatments, or threading seven days prior to treatment.
Discontinue blood thinning agents such as vitamin E, vitamin A, gingko, garlic, flax, cod liver oil, and essential fatty acids, as well as multivitamins, a minimum of 7 days (preferably 14 days) prior to treatment.
If you are taking any blood thinners, please let your provider know immediately, as they may pose a contraindication to this treatment. These medications include Plavix, Coumadin, and Heparin.
Avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Voltaren, and any other anti-inflammatory medications. This is due to the fact that the mechanism of inflammation is critical to the efficacy of blood boosters.
You may use Tylenol (acetaminophen) as needed prior to the treatment.
Prescription medications (including heart and blood pressure medication) should be taken as prescribed up to and including the day of and the day after your treatments.
Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic Acid, or other “anti-aging," “acne," and “bleaching” products. Also avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
Avoid excessive sun and heat exposure and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily of SPF 30 or higher.
You will receive an email from our office just prior to your treatment recapping these pre-treatment instructions.

POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
You may expect a certain degree of discomfort, redness, and/or irritation during and after treatment.
You may bruise at the blood draw site or treatment site. This is normal and bruising should diminish within several days.
Cool compresses can be applied to reduce swelling if necessary. Please note the under-eye area can swell significantly.
Your skin will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and may feel warm and tighter than usual. This typically diminishes the same day or within 24 hours.
Some people may experience a dull ache and/or tenderness in the treated areas. This will subside in 48-72 hours.
Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, Motrin, or Advil. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical for your skin rejuvenation.
Avoid vigorous exercise, sun exposure, and heat exposure for at least 24 hours following your treatment.
Use clean linens and towels during the healing process.
Use a gentle cleanser (i.e. Avene Clean-Ac Cleanser) and lukewarm water to cleanse the face for the next 72 hours. Use a gentle moisturizer as needed.
Avoid warm environments (i.e., hot tubs, jacuzzi, hot showers, steam rooms, hot yoga, saunas, etc.) for three days post-treatment.
You will begin to see improvements in the overall texture and tone shortly after your treatment, but the overall effects take up to three months for optimal improvement. This is because new collagen formation takes 4-6 weeks to develop so please be patient.
It is recommended to have a minimum of three treatments, 4-6 weeks apart for maximum benefit.
In the rare case of an adverse event, an antidote can be administered that will partially or fully reverse the effects of treatment.
You will receive an email from our team immediately after your treatment recapping these post-treatment instructions.

DAY OF TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Prior to treatment, please inform The Confidence Team of the following:
--If you have a history of cold sores. (If so, you may be required to receive antiviral therapy prior to treatment.)
--If you have a history of any significant allergy or skin sensitivity.
--If you have recently had a facial peel or surgery.
--Recent use of self-tanning lotions, tanning booths, or prolonged sun exposure 24 hours prior to treatment.
--If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Please arrive at the office with a clean face. Your skin should be free of makeup, lotions, sunscreen, moisturizer, or other topical products.
Please drink plenty of water prior to your treatment to facilitate the blood drawing process.
Your provider may opt to apply a topical anesthetic cream prior to your procedure.
